BANGKOK, 19 May 2026 - The Thai cabinet has approved the cancellation of the 60-day visa exemption scheme for over 90 countries, Minister of Tourism and Sports Surasak Phancharoenworakul said on Tuesday.

The cancellation also applies to countries with multiple visa options, officials said.

Under the cabinet's resolution, the country will revert to its previous visa criteria. Relevant agencies will be notified of the decision accordingly.

A new proposal will be reviewed by the Visa Policy Committee, which will consider on a country-by-country basis which visa type is appropriate, taking into account both security and economic factors.

Following the revocation of the 60-day policy, all affected countries will return to their original visa types, most of which allow a stay of approximately 30 days.
