Private Hospitals to Procure Covid-19 Vaccines

The prime minister formed a committee to supervise COVID-19 vaccine procurement by private hospitals.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said he formed a committee to supervise the vaccine procurement by private hospitals that would support the vaccination that the government was providing. Dr Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, advisor to the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration, heads the committee.

Gen Prayut said that 1.5 million doses of government-acquired vaccines would be delivered this month and the government intended to arrange for inoculation for at least 45 million people in the country.

The prime minister said that field hospitals and alternative quarantine facilities would be set up in case that COVID-19 spreads faster especially in Bangkok.

He asked people to avoid risky places and said that the government had to close such venues for public safety. Entertainment places in 41 provinces would be closed for at least 14 days starting tomorrow (April 10), Gen Prayut said.

Forty-one provinces include Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, Ayutthaya, Saraburi, Lopburi, Samut Prakan, Saphanburi, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phetchaburi, Ranong, Chumphon, Makhon Si Thammarat, Phuket, Surat Thani, Songkhla, Yala, Narathiwat, Chiang Mai, Lamphang, Chiang Rai, Tak, Phetchabun, Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Udon Thani, Buri Ram, Loei, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Prachinburi, Chachoengsao, Nakhon Nayok and Sa Kaeo.  

One death and 559 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Thailand on Friday, raising the toll to 96 fatalities and 30,869 cases.
