Thammasat Reopens Field Hospital

A field hospital reopened at the Rangsit campus of Thammasat University in Klong Luang district.

Inspecting the facility that had been closed on May 15 last year, Deputy Public Health Minister Sathit Pitutecha said the field hospital at the campus reopened and the first patient admitted this time was a Thammasat University student.

The field hospital will receive the COVID-19 cases who either are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms in eight provinces. There are 308 beds and the capacity can rise to 400 depending on situations.

The Public Health Ministry planned to set up field hospitals in every province.  Such a facility would be necessary for any province that had more than 10 COVID-19 cases because local hospitals were not capable of admitting all local COVID-19 cases, Mr Sathit said.

Provincial governors and health chiefs would decide when their province would need a field hospital, he said.
